Engagement end date & locking

This is a different concept from Assure Pro’s “engagement” (a workflow pipeline) or Assure Audit’s “engagement” (a synced audit-service record).

Assure Books has two separate, unrelated locks — don’t confuse them.

Engagement end date (from Assure Pro)

Every client has an engagement end date, set in Assure Pro. Once that date passes, the entire client becomes read-only in Assure Books — a banner across the screen reads “This engagement ended on…”. There’s no password involved; extend the date in Assure Pro to unlock it again.

Book closing date (from QuickBooks)

Separately, open Close the Books and click Get closing date from QuickBooks to pull the client’s book closing date from their QuickBooks preferences. This locks transactions dated on or before that date.

If someone tries to edit a transaction dated on or before the closing date, Assure Books asks for a password before allowing the edit — a safeguard against accidental changes to a closed period, not a separate “closing” step of its own.
